About This Site

This website is quite large:

I estimate that there is around 20,000 words and 160 photos (with their accompanying thumbnails). It got this large because the text is comprised of almost my entire travel-log and reasonable proportion of my photos from the trip were scanned in.

It is also quite complicated:

I use two Common Gateway Interface (CGI) programs, Server Side Includes (SSI), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript to generate the pages and provide added functionality.
All the images are inserted thanks to a combination of SSI and a CGI written in C and pages are generated automatically for each image using a perl CGI.
All pages are formatted using a template applied using SSI and CSS.
In addition, JavaScript is used as little as possible and I might even get rid of it completely because Javascript is evil!

It will never be finished

I wish it would finish, but I'm quite sure I'll add bits in every now and then or change stuff when people point out spelling mistakes etc etc etc...
